Scope downgrades Casino’s rating to C/Negative and withdraws its ratings.

Scope has resolved the under-review status for Casino’s rating by downgrading it to C/Negative from CC. Subsequently, Scope has ceased analytical coverage of Casino due to business reasons.

The latest information on the rating, including rating reports and related methodologies, is available on this LINK

      Rating action

Scope Ratings GmbH (Scope) has today downgraded the issuer ratings on Casino, Guichard-Perrachon S.A. (Casino) and on its guaranteed subsidiary Quatrim S.A.S. to C from CC and changed the Outlook to Negative. Scope has also downgraded the senior secured debt rating to C from CC. Scope has affirmed the senior unsecured debt rating at C, the subordinated (hybrid) debt rating at C and the short-term debt rating at S-4, assigned to Casino, Guichard-Perrachon S.A. Subsequently, Scope has withdrawn all the ratings.

      Rating rationale

The downgrade is driven by the fact that the likelihood for a selective default, according to Scope’s methodology, has materially increased due to the new proposal of the conciliation proceedings released on 28 June 2023. The negative outlook reflects further downside in the ratings, as shown by the potential upcoming default triggered by i) the refusal of waiver from the senior unsecured bonds in relation to interest payments and ii) the breach of Casino’s financial covenant on its RCF that could result in a cross-default.

Following the downgrade displayed above, the ratings have been withdrawn due to business reasons.

Stress testing & cash flow analysis
No stress testing was performed. Scope Ratings performed its standard cash flow forecasting for the company.
