Scope Ratings changes the rating status of Karlie from SD to D

The rating action follows Karlie Group GmbH’s (Karlie) announcement that it has filed for the opening of insolvency proceedings under its own management (Insolvenzverfahren in Eigenverwaltung) in line with German Insolvency Code.

The opening of insolvency proceedings follow the failure of Karlie’s corporate restructuring plans and its selective default through the insolvency of two of its Belgian subsidiaries (announced on 20 October 2016). The opening of the insolvency proceedings has been accepted by the court, which permits the company to manage and dispose the assets involved in insolvency proceedings under the supervision of an insolvency monitor (§270a InsO). According to Karlie, the operating business of the German core business under Karlie Flamingo GmbH will continue.

Scope Ratings has accordingly changed the rating status from SD to D, and is monitoring for further developments. Karlie intends to sell the operating business of its German subsidiary, Karlie Flamingo GmbH, to an investor.
