Scope updates its Financial Institutions Rating Methodology and calls for comments
Scope Ratings is proposing an update of its Financial Institutions Rating Methodology and is calling for comments from market participants until 21 January 2024.
Besides editorial changes, proposed updates are as follows:
- Increase the granularity of the Operating Environment and Business Model Assessments by adding the modifiers of ‘High’ and ‘Low’, which allows for more refined mapping under Step 1 of the methodology.
- Change the notching approach for the Long-Term Sustainability Assessment under Step 1
- Clarify the approach to sovereign risk concentrations under Step 2
- Clarify the approach to assigning foreign currency ratings to issuers located in non-investment grade countries.
Scope invites issuers, investors and other interested parties to comment on the proposed methodology by 21 January 2024, as part of the agency’s ongoing commitment to transparency and open dialogue with market participants.
Scope anticipates that the changes to the methodology could impact one rating positively by up to one notch.
Please send your comments to consultation@scoperatings.com.
Scope will review and publish the content of any written response in accordance with regulatory requirements, unless the respondent has specifically requested confidentiality.
