Italian NPL collections: October volumes confirm negative year-to-date trend

October Italian NPL collections fell month-on-month to EUR 128m from EUR 137m. They were also 13% and 9% below September 2022 and 2021 volumes, respectively. The share of judicial proceeds in October went back to the level of the beginning of the year.

Collections in October 2023 were 11% below the average of the last two years, confirming the negative trend for 2023 already outlined in previous reports.

The share of collection strategies in October was broadly consistent with the rest of the year to-date. Judicial proceeds accounted for 78.5% of collections against an average of 72.2% in the first 10 months of the year. DPOs accounted for 19.8% of October collections, close to the 21.7% average, while note sales registered a decrease of 1.7% vs 6.1% YTD.
